Lighter, whimsical tone
Punny names, defanged monsters, lots of laughter and love around the game table.
Grimdark or graphic violence have plenty of sway elsewhere and not here.
High magic
Casters have big spell lists in the Potterverse. Technologies in the wizarding community of the roaring 1920s are anachronistic. Think horses, not racecars/early planes.
Casters have higher limits on spells per day, consistent with Potterverse-style magic.
Character death only in service to story
This campaign is partly as healing, therapy against past abuses in the workplace, and new positive shared experiences for my wife. I'm not going to mulch her PC or key NPCs arbitrarily.
We're adults
Gay Stuff: There are a number of gay NPCs in this adventure. ... if you think there might be problems you should mention this to your group before you even start the adventure. You don't want one person making jokes that offend others. It could get out of hand really fast. If you are running this in a public game store, be extra mindful! The last thing you want is for a closeted, shy player who has chosen D&D/Harry Potter as a way to connect socially have insults shoved in their face. [1]
